The faces behind the research project
Meet Gesa, our project lead! Passionate about enhancing migrants‘ sense of belonging, Gesa is a postdoctoral researcher at FernUniversitaet in Hagen and Concordia University in Montréal. With degrees from University College Dublin and University of Osnabrueck, she’s also visited & conducted research at McGill University and Université Laval in Canada, and the UFSC in Brazil.
Introducing Julia, a busy-bee currently post-doc-ing in Vienna. Julia’s research is all about growing up into an active role in society – she’s interested in adolescents’ and young adults’ political self-efficacy and participation in more and less conventional ways, from voting all the way to activism. Julia has degrees in law and psychology from University of Göttingen and University of Vienna.
Presenting Malte, globe-trotter with a zest for understanding the nuances of intercultural relations. With a foundation in economics, he has journeyed through more than 70 countries, gaining firsthand experience of the diverse ways of life around the globe. Currently, he is focusing on his passion for psychology while pursuing self-employment.
This is Meg, an intern for our project. She is currently studying psychology at FernUniversität in Hagen. Beginning her studies out of an interest in understanding how people think and behave, she has been especially intrigued by social- psychological topics, including the development of prejudice and discrimination, which she focused on in her final thesis.
Introducing Tina, a fervent language enthusiast with a knack for unraveling linguistic complexities who traversed through diverse cultures and contexts, facilitating communication across borders as a conference interpreter. Captivated by the intricacies of the human mind, she has been exploring the realms of psychology, seeking to understand the complexities of human behavior and cognition for a couple of years now.
Meet our esteemed team member, Anette, who has been leading the Department of Community Psychology at FernUniversität in Hagen since September 2011. With a focus on research in acculturation, promoting intercultural competencies, reducing prejudices, and facilitating successful theory-practice exchange, Anette brings invaluable expertise to our team.
